We are honored to announce that Action Ambulance of Wilmington and Berkshire Medical Center of Pittsfield are recipients of this year’s prestigious MassExcellence Award Program. Mike Woronka, CEO of Action Ambulance and Diane Kelly, Acting CEO of Berkshire Medical Center led their respective organizations through this intense five month process.
All applicants report on their key business systems in the seven categories of Leadership; Strategy Planning and Deployment; Customer and Market Focus; Measures, Analysis, and Knowledge Management; Workforce Focus; Process Management; and of course, Results. Each application goes through a rigorous evaluation which includes an on-site company visit by a team of specially trained experts. Their findings are scored, documented, and sent to a Panel of Judges for review, then finalized and sent to each applicant. The purpose of their application is not just about the award—it’s about the valuable feedback. This feedback is used by senior leadership as part of their performance improvement activities to prioritize and focus on key areas, thus saving time, money, and resources.
The results from this process benefit not only their customers —and in this case — patients — it ALSO benefits their employees, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders. The objective is to continue to achieve sustainable results, which promote growth and jobs, which keeps our state economy strong. Everybody wins!
